Scenic Area Overview
Jianmenguan Scenic Area, located 9 kilometers south of Jiange County, Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province, is the core scenic spot of Jianmen Shudao in the first batch of national key scenic spots. National Natural and Cultural Heritage, included in the World Natural and Cultural Heritage Preparatory List, National AAAAA-level Tourist Scenic Area, National Scenic Spot, National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit, National Forest Park, National Geological Park, National Patriotism Education Base, National Cultural Industry Demonstration Base, Nature Reserve of Sichuan Province. One of the 100 red classic tourist attractions in China, and one of the 100 most beautiful shooting spots in Sichuan of China National Geographic.
Jianmenguan Scenic Area is composed of two adjacent scenic areas, Jianmenguan and Cuiyun Gallery, with a total planned area of 84 square kilometers and a core area of 6 square kilometers. There are more than 300 ornamental attractions (areas). The main attractions include Jianmenguan, Jiange Road, Seventy-two Peaks, Xiaojianshan, Jiangwei Temple, Jiangwei Tomb, Deng‘ai Tomb, Zhonghuigulei, Jinniu Road, Houguanmen, Stalagmite Peak, Liangshan Temple, Thunder Gorge, Cuiping Peak, Xianfengguan, Gujianxiqiao, Zhigong Temple, 4D Cinema, Bird Road, Glass Landscape Platform, etc. are the important nodes of the Sichuan Great Jiuzhai Ring Road and the supporting center of the Sanguo cultural boutique tourist routes of Shu Road.
Jianmenguan Scenic Area covers the Longmen Mountains in the north, Jialing River in the east, and Fujiang River in the west. The transportation is convenient, and it is about 10 kilometers away from Baocheng Railway and Mianguang Expressway. It is 240 kilometers south of Chengdu and 45 kilometers north of Guangyuan. It integrates Shu Dao culture, Three Kingdoms culture, war culture, pass culture, post station culture, and red culture. It is famous not only for its magnificent, dangerous, beautiful, secluded and strange natural scenery, but also for its profound historical and cultural deposits, especially the war culture (in the small jianmen, there are more than 100 wars happening here, and the imperial culture (more than 10 emperors visit) and countless scholars and writers have left nearly 4000 works.
Geologic and geomorphic features
Jianmenguan scenic spot is located in the fault-fold zone at the northern edge of sichuan basin, which is the jianmenshan branch of longmen mountain range and belongs to the strata of cangxi formation (jianmenguan formation of wall rock group) under the cretaceous of Mesozoic. Potential northwest high southeast low, the plane slightly oval, mainly low mountain landform, mountain ridge dense, gully crisscross, even mountains absolutely dangerous, steep mountains across the sky
The Danxia landform composed of the Lower Cretaceous Jianmenguan Formation conglomerate and the Upper Jurassic Lianhuakou Formation are the typical representative of this type of landform in the monoclinic middle-low mountain area of western China. Jianmen 72 peaks, a chain pyramid-shaped group of conglomerate karst in the late Jurassic lianhuakou formation, are very rare in conglomerate karst landform at home and abroad. Forming the unique Jianmen Danxia landform, it is majestic and beautiful, rigid and flexible, with both the majestic and magnificent scenery of the northern mountains and the southern scenery.
On Dajian mountain, where the Jianmenguan building is located, the steep stone walls on both sides extend for hundreds of miles, forming a natural city wall, until the pass is suddenly cut off, leaving a narrow and long pass. The pass has two high cliffs and stone walls, just like cutting axe and splitting. This pass has become the only way to enter the river, which is called "Xiongguan of the World".
The climate characteristics
Jianmenguan Scenic Area is a subtropical humid climate zone, with mild climate and abundant rainfall, and four distinct seasons. The average temperature was 14.0℃, the average temperature of the coldest month was 4.2℃, and the average temperature of the hottest month was 24.5℃. The average annual rainfall is 1075 milliliters, and the rainy season is from may to October, accounting for 87.4% of the annual rainfall. Snow is concentrated in January and February, with more snow in the area above 800 meters above sea level. Sunshine is unevenly distributed, and there are many clouds and clouds in autumn and winter. It is difficult for sunlight to reach the ground, with an average of 125 days, accounting for 34% of the whole year. The relative humidity is 74%.

Jianmenguan Scenic Area is rich in vegetation, and the forest coverage rate is above 50%. The forest vegetation in the territory is mainly cypress forest, masson pine forest, oak forest, alder forest, mixed forest, bamboo forest and tea forest.
Animal resources
There are 224 kinds of wild animals in Jianmenguan Scenic Area, including 47 kinds of mammals, 84 kinds of birds, 12 kinds of reptiles, 6 kinds of amphibians and 75 kinds of fish,It belongs to 25 species of wild animals under national key protection, including leopards, golden pheasants, macaques, red pandas, turtles, thrushes, and so on.
Water resources
The river in the Jianmenguan Scenic Area is a complete basin of the Dajianxi River, which is a tributary of the Qingjiang River. The Dajianxi River originates from the Heishannguan, and the stream valley is shallow. To jianmenguan steep drop of 50 meters, forming a significant jianmenguan canyon. Xiaojian Creek originates from Beibojiagou, passes Dadiaoyan and Liangshuigou to form Jianxiong Lake, Longwangtan and Liangshuigou Reservoir. It converges with Dajianxi in Dashizui, with a basin area of 120 kilometers.
The gullies of the Jianmen Mountains are vertical and horizontal. Jianmen mountain collects rainwater, is along the northwest high, southeast low terrain, by the trickle gathered into a river, flowing through gullies, into the qingjiang river system, into the jialing river. The water that originated from Jianmen Mountain includes West River, Wenxi River, and The large and small Jianxi River. It flows through Dongbao, Wulian, Zhengxing, Kaifeng, Yingshui, Zheba, Changling and other places in Jiange County, flows through the southern county, Langzhong city and merges into the Jialing River. The Wenxi River originates from the southeast of the Wuzishan Watershed, flows through Yandian, Beimiao, Pu'an, Wenxi to the mouth of the river and flows into the Jialing River. The large and small Jianxi originated from the Heishan View of Jianmen Town and the North Pujiagou of Hanyang Town. The two streams merged into the Qingshui River at Jianmen Pass and Dashigou. The Qingshui River merged into the Jialing River after being injected into the Bailong River in Zhangjia Town, Quhui Township.
